Northern Adriatic, Rijeka - simulator of severe precipitation event
Description
Forecasting severe precipitation events presents significant challenges, as exemplified in this simulator. The presence of a deep trough spanning a wide area complicates predictions, especially when coupled with local factors such as a shallow low-pressure system near a nearby city and a warm front covering adjacent mountainous terrain. As the axis of the low shifts, a strengthening southwest flow enhances the likelihood of heavy rain and intense showers.
In such scenarios, issuing timely warnings becomes crucial and accurately predicting the exact onset and intensity of precipitation remains challenging.
Accompanying case study with feedback will be available soon.
