Processing of personal data
The website eumetrain.org is hosted for EUMETSAT by GeoSphere Austria, Austria’s national meteorological and geological service (subsequently GSA).
Data protection is taken seriously by GSA. Personal data will be processed exclusively in line with the European and Austrian data protection, privacy and telecommunications regulations, with contracts, or with other legal obligations.
In specific individual cases, in addition to the provisions cited above, a contract or other legal obligation may also come into consideration. Insofar as you have given your consent to the processing of your data, this is the basis as well as the limit for the activities in this regard.

Use and processing of personal data entered by you
If functionalities of our website are used that require the entry of personal data (example: earthquake report or severe weather report), the entry of the data constitutes consent for us to use this data electronically for the purpose for which it was entered.
If you contact us via a web form or by e-mail, the data you provide will be temporarily stored for the purpose of processing the enquiry and in case of follow-up questions.
Use and processing of automatically generated data
Description of the data that users do not enter actively, but that is automatically generated and processed.
Every time you access our website and every time you retrieve files made available by our web server, certain technical data is stored. However, such storage only takes place in pseudonymous (indirectly personal) form, so that it is not possible for us to draw conclusions about someone as a person from this data. The following data is logged: IP address of the retrieving computer, file name of the retrieved file(s), date and time of the retrieval, amount of data transferred, status message regarding the retrieval and information about the web browser used. The storage of this data serves to be able to guarantee the security of our website and to be able to recognise and pursue attacks on our website or their misuse.
Cookies
Our website uses "cookies" (small files stored in the respective browser) and similar technologies in individual areas. This enables it to remember certain settings of your browser (for example, your preferred language). The information contained in a cookie is set by the web server and then stored on the respective computer when our website is accessed. These cookies are assigned a lifetime by the web server, whereby the cookies are automatically deleted again from the respective end device after this lifetime has expired. However, you can make settings in your browser software so that cookies are always deleted when you close the browser. If you generally do not allow us to use cookies, certain functions may not work as expected.
Security notice
We take comprehensive technical and organisational measures to ensure that personal data is not accessible to unauthorised third parties. However, we cannot guarantee complete data security when communicating by unencrypted e-mail, so we recommend sending confidential information by post.
Your rights as a data subject
Right of access
You have the right to obtain information about the type and scope of processing of your personal data without costs. Please contact datenschutz@zamg.ac.at for further information.
To avoid misuse, however, please establish your identity in a suitable form, such as by producing a copy of a valid photographic identification. Please make sure to include in your application as concrete information as possible so we can provide you with information quickly and efficiently. GSA will provide you with the necessary information according to Art 15 GDPR at the latest within one month of receipt. In exceptional cases, this period may be extended. In this case, you will be informed accordingly. To ensure that your personal data is only available to you personally, we will send the information via Austrian Post as a registered personal delivery (RSa-Brief) or corresponding information technology services.
