Cyclone Friederike

Published: 17 March 2020

In early 2018 a rapid cyclogenesis occurred in the North Atlantic which then moved in a westerly flow over the British Isles and then into the Netherlands, northern Germany and Poland. The rapid development produced hurricane force wind gusts of up to 140 km/h and up to 200 km/h over mountains. The cyclone caused hundreds of millions of euros of damage in the mentioned countries and several casualties.
