Semitransparent clouds

Low level water clouds superimposed by semitransparent high level clouds depict in cyan colours in the Severe Storm RGB. The high cirrus veil shows a high temperature difference between IR3.9 and IR10.8 channels and hence a strong green contribution. The water vapour channels show large temperature differences which results in a small contribution of the red colour beam. NIR1.6 channel shows a somewhat higher radiation than VIS0.6 resulting in a pronounced contribution of the blue colour beam.
